Moving on after high school is a big step for students entering adulthood.
ProWorks provides Student Transition Services. Parents often feel insecure as to where their child will go after graduation. Planning for the future is a part of every student’s education. For students with disabilities, this planning often includes transition services. ProWorks partners with schools to offer day placement and/or vocational training as a stepping stone from high school / transition programs to the adult world.
Students may benefit from the following services:
Work experience
ProWorks offers center-based opportunities where students are assessed, evaluated and trained in a variety of jobs while being paid.
Life enrichment
Guided by the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP), as well as observed interests and skills, life enrichment activities are designed to assist students with other life components such as peer involvement, daily living skills and therapeutic recreation
Employment Planning/Placement
- Plans and support services – needed to obtain and maintain community employment
- Job placement – supporting students in finding a job which meets their individual needs and skills
- Job coaching – provided while student is working in a community business; individualized and on an as-needed basis
To access Student Transition Services, you must work with your local school district, and specifically identify a student’s need to receive these services in their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
