ProWorks farewell to the troops

July 2013

July 2013

A ProWorks farewell to the troops.  Ninety-five soldiers left the Minnesota Army National Guard Armory, in Litchfield, this morning.  These men will receive pre-Deployment training, at Ft. Hood, Texas, in July and August, and will then be deployed to Afghanistan in the fall.  Operation Enduring Freedom is the name of US military operations in Afghanistan.

These soldiers will be assigned to the 878th Engineer Battalion – which is headquartered in Augusta, GA. These soldiers will conduct Route Clearance missions to ensure mobility of coalition forces.  In addition to this primary mission they will also conduct Counter Mobility, Survivability, and limited infantry operations.

This is the first deployment for 82 of these young men, and for 17  – it will be their second, third or fourth deployment.  They will return in the summer of 2014.  These young men will be in our thoughts and prayers – we pray for their safe return.
